Designing the Journal of Official Statistics 2020 edition

The Journal of Official Statics is a scientific journal based on a collection of papers by the NSO and the MSA which is published yearly. When taking on this project, our team immediately understood the complexity of the task and simplified it by breaking it down into 2 main aspects;

APPEARANCE

The primary element used was brought out from the MSA logo itself. Representing stability and consistency, an angulated monogram was created and used throughout the front and back cover. The second element was brought out from the shape of a line-graph, and was used in the header of each page and beneath the title of each journal.

UNDERSTANDABILITY

Being a journal of highly anticipated and important data, it is crucial that the information is presented in the book can be easily explained and understood. Through the use of highly readable fonts, colour coding and explainable charts, we have managed to create a journal which is coherent and easy on the eyes. The second element was brought out from the shape of a line graph, and was used in the header of each page and beneath the title of each journal.
